Highlights
The presenter is long shares of General Electric (GE) at $30 and sees the potential for the company to generate a 10% (or possibly better) EPS CAGR over the next three years. For a company of GE’s size, with no net debt ex the finco, “this kind of earnings growth is almost unheard of.” The news that GE was changing its strategy and would sell the finance unit and return a substantial amount of cash to shareholders sent the stock from $25 to over $28 in early April (2015); however, shares quickly retreated and have only recently recovered and reached current levels. He sees a long runway for growth and upside to $40+ based on a combination of “self-help” measures, share repurchase activity, and strength in the industrials aftermarket business. In addition, there is embedded optionality if the macro environment improves and the software business takes off.
