Highlights
Thermo Fisher is the dominant player in the life sciences/ tools space, a nearly $100 billion addressable market growing at 3-5% annually. The company appears well positioned in both the core instruments and lab areas, continuing to take share from competitors including Agilent (A) and Waters (WAT). Over 70% of the company’s business is comprised of consumables, resulting in a model that is more defensive and recurring in nature in tougher environments. The presenter, however, sees the stock as particularly interesting now in view of his belief that the company appears poised to begin redeploying capital sooner than expected.
