Highlights
As Applied Materials continues in its attempts to close the acquisition of Tokyo Electron - an inversion that is expected to provide meaningful tax savings and synergies - the presenter believes evident fatigue on the part of event driven investors currently provides an attractive entry point. The deal was signed 560 or so days ago, and event driven investors involved in the name have been hurt in the interim by a variety of other stocks. Additionally, investors likely have been spooked by a couple of recent negative data points in the semiconductor space. There remain a couple of regulatory hurdles to clear, but the presenter believes the merits and probability of the deal remain intact.
